About Us
The Record Machine is an independent record label based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mike Russo, Richard Robinett and Nathan Reusch founded TRM in 2003 when we released our first record for the James Dean Trio. In the 8 years since then we have worked with bands from all over the United States. Our current roster is Ad Astra Arkestra, Capybara, Continents, Cowboy Indian Bear, Lazy, Max Justus, Minden, Motorboater, Perhapsy, Saharan Gazelle Boy, Sam Billen, Soft Reeds, State Bird, and The Parade Schedule. Our goal is to make an organic community of artists and help connect them with listeners. Tim Finn of The Kansas City Star remarked about The Record Machine’s output “[They] have assembled a stable of diverse artists who are making music that deserves national attention.”
In 2011 we founded and curated the inaugural Middle of The Map Fest in our hometown of Kansas City, MO. The festival featured national artists like Two Door Cinema Club, Daniel Johnston, Cursive, Raveonettes, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, Small Black, The Appleseed Cast, The Casket Lottery, El Ten Eleven, Dosh and many more. The festival was attended by 3000 people and was an overwhelming success for the first year.
