Song of the Month: TSD – Shiny Shoes

tsd-on-black

This month’s song comes from Atlanta’s hip hop duo TSD. For a long time I have wanted to use this feature to promote friends that aren’t on Record Machine. When my friend Aree sent me some songs from TSD I knew the timing was perfect to unleash them as the song of the month. Here is their bio:

TSD is a collaborative duo made up of vocalist/musician Movement and producer Source One. Based out of Atlanta, they crossed paths – whether by chance or destiny – in 2004 and began exchanging musical tastes, beats, and life experiences since. Movement, a songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, paints audible portraits of pop music, dub, rap, and r&b into one bucket of creativity and energy, while Source One outlines the canvas and fills in the details with the art of sampling, sound-manipulation, and glitch layering. In their eyes, sound has no boundaries and neither do they. Together, the two combine their love and passion for good music into, what they call, “future crunk.”

If this is what the future holds I want to be on this dance floor.

Perhapsy - Perhapsy

In case you skipped going to the front page of the website you should return to it and stream the entire new Perhapsy record. It is only going to be up for a limited time so check it out while you can.

Perhapsy – Perhapsy: Full Album Stream

Also earlier this month we shared some Cobra songs for our Song of the Month and I couldn’t help but repost Cobra’s most recent song. It is the original version of one my favorite State Bird songs “I Don’t Luv U Anymore”. He also gives an update that he is almost finished recording the Cobra record and that State Bird is working on their new record. Remember to keep checking his blog for more songs.

Video: Cobra – Natural Light Redux

Cobra is an ever evolving solo project from Coby Hartzler of State Bird. Each week Coby posts a new song to his blog(www.jacobra.squarespace.com). The blog is a interesting glimpse into a new project as it develops and prepares for full on debut later this year. At times the songs are a bait and switch evolving from simple lo-fi folk and building into full on post-rock. Other times they are the same complex folk songs that you have come to expect from Coby. You might even see some of these songs turn into State Bird songs as is the case with Uh Oh from their 4 New Songs ep. Here is just a sampling of some of our favorites. Go check out the rest of the songs and bookmark for a weekly visits.

Perhapsy

We are all very excited about the upcoming Perhapsy record that we are releasing in May. This will be the first release from Derek as Perhapsy but he is a label veteran. You have heard his guitar work on The Winston Jazz Routine and Every Gentle Air records we have released so you should be more the familiar. We have added our favorite track from the record The Bow Song to our player on the right. Also this Month’s Song of The Month is a new demo Derek was nice enough to send over.

Max Justus Remixes Sportsday Megaphone and Sportsday Megaphone Video

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Late last year The Record Machine made friends with Sportsday Megaphone. We asked if Max Justus could do a remix of Meet Me In The Middle which is one of the many stand out tracks on the record So Many Colours / So Little Time. Yesterday they released a video and the Max Justus remix and we wanted to make sure you all got your hands on it.

Song of The Month: Max Justus Remixes 8 From 808′s & Heartbreak

heart1

We thought we should start 2009 off with our most adventurous song of the month collection so far. Max Justus remixed 8 tracks from the newest Kanye West record 808s & Heartbreak. Max provides an interesting take that is completely different from what Kanye envisioned.

Download the whole thing from: zshare

Max was also recently featured in The Pitch:

“What I try to do with electronic music is push it into a pop format and mix in classical ideas,” Spransy says. “I try to throw curveballs in terms of how I arrange songs. A lot of electro guys will come up with a really badass riff, but it never changes, and that kind of irks me.”

December Song Of The Month: Max Justus – Change Your Pants

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Tape Guitar.8

Here is a Public Service Announcement from Max Justus and The Record Machine: Change Your Pants!  After you have spent the whole night on the dance floor you will need to change them. We know you think its cool to wear the same clothes for a few days, and for you really crusty bastard’s it might be all year. After this nobody will want to get near you because of the dubstep fury that this song brings. Do the right thing.

Also the new Max Justus – Five Leaping Leopards came out on Tuesday.
Purchase: CD and Itunes
