$2.00 Dollar Albums: Motorboater – P/U Yr Heart EP

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Motorboater started this last summer when my buddy Dan Eaton started sending me electropop jams(emphasis on the jams). I loved the songs so much I told Dan to keep making more. As more and more songs came together he played a show with Half-Handed Cloud. Shortly thereafter Motorboater made appearance at our Holiday Showcase. Well here we are 3 months later and we have his P/U Yr Heart debut EP. Motorboater has a few upcoming shows one at The Record Machine Spring Showcase and another at SWSW.

3/12 at The Czar Bar for The Record Machine Spring Showcase w/Cowboy Indian Bear, Capybara, and Max Justus

3/20 at Canvas in Austin, TX at The Midwasteland Takeover 11:30 PM (RSVP at www.midwastelandtakeover.com)

$2.00 Albums: Saharan Gazelle Boy – Airplanes Can’t

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

We knew when we committed to releasing an album every month we had some great new releases in the pipe for everyone to enjoy in 2010. I have to say that while every release in our catalog has a certain special place in our hearts this one does for me for several reasons. Saharan Gazelle Boy – Airplanes Can’t marks TRM’s 20th release in just under 7 years. While that might not sound like much it is pretty awesome for us a label to get to that point. This release is also the first release to have several songs recorded at my own home. For those not familiar with the name Saharan Gazelle Boy it is the solo project of Darin Seal from Capybara. Airplanes Can’t encapsulates everything I love about bedroom pop. As with these releases you will be able to hear a stream of the album and if you can’t afford the $2.00 you can download just a song for your email address.

Buy Capybara’s One Too Many Mornings score for just $2.00

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

One Too Many Mornings has been one of the hits of Sundance. We have been excited to have Capybara involved in the score. I had a chance to watch the movie for the first this past weekend and I can genuinely say that it was truly a great film. In addition to being a great film Capybara did such a good job highlighting the moments. This is their first new music that are releasing as a band since Try Brother and it gets me really excited to see what is next. We decided we wanted to make the score as much of an awesome deal as the movie is:

Also you can download some other great material from Sundance below:

And last but not least please do yourself a favor and head over to:

$2.00 Albums: The Parade Schedule – Seeds To Be Planted, Trees To Be Cut

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

The other day I was out with a friend and we were making jokes about how 2010 is like living in the future. We were at a movie and we were watching the previews thinking “Man movies in the future are going to suck”. Well the statement has stuck with me and got me thinking about the future of music, and what I want to do with it. I felt like this was a good time to launch some new things for our website. One of the things I have been wanting to do is release albums for $2.00. So we are going to be releasing at least one album a month from our website for $2.00. If we don’t have a new release to do at the moment we will do something from our back catalog. The album will also be streaming from our website and you will be able to post the player on your facebook, blog, twitter or whatever social network you would like. I think this will be a great way for people to pick up something new and not feel too guilty about it.

Our first album that we will be releasing with this new tradition is The Parade Schedule – Seeds To Be Planted, Trees To Be Cut. Even though it came out last month we wanted more people to get a chance to pick up this album at this price. It is the long awaited debut from Louisville singer/songwriter Matt Kinder. The album has been in the works for just over 2 years and I am very excited to help Matt get it out. It is a very honest and mature debut album for someone that I think will be around for a long time.

The Parade Schedule is also going to be out on the road this month to support the album this month here are the dates:
January 8th CD Release Party at the 930 in Louisville, KY w/Peter Bradley Adams
January 29th at Czar Bar in Kansas City, MO w/Oriole Post and Grizzly Hands
January 30th at The Firebird in St Louis, MO w/Owen Pye
January 31st at TBA in Cincinnati, OH

or if you can’t afford $2.00 you can download the song Backyard for free below.

Update: Sale has now ended. Thanks everyone that purchased.
